what the river says...
Is this real?

I’m looking around for information about women in Islam. Everywhere I see the “separate but equal” idea, separate because of reasons such as the following: (context: talking about why women shouldn’t be heads of states)

“It is a medical fact that during their monthly periods and during their pregnancies, women undergo various physiological and psychological changes. Such changes may occur during an emergency situation, thus affecting her decision, without considering the excessive strain which is produced. Moreover, some decisions require a maximum of rationality and a minimum of emotionality - a requirement which does not coincide with the instinctive nature of women.” (Source)

Seriously….? This sort of thing was said in the middle ages. Hasn’t this been disproved in a thousand different ways since then?

It’s a medical fact…“A maximum of rationality and a minimum of emotionality…” WTF?

What about men who it has been medically proven have hormonal cycles too, but instead of the ability for it to lead to the miracle of life, it just causes men to be grumpy and feel bad about themselves. Sources: 1, 2, 3, 4

Seriously, it’s only a man who is scared of women who could say that a woman can’t function when she’s having her period. We have them every month, I’m pretty sure we can handle them - it’s just you men who can’t.
